Cablz and the Mystic Halloween Parade

Like Cablz Eyewear Retainers, the beginning of the Mystics of Mountain Brook Parade was small.  It all began 11 years ago, when a brother and sister were missing the Mardi Gras celebrations they experienced in their hometown of Mobile.  Trent Wright and his sister, Casey Wright Horn, decided to bring fun to their own backyard.  It all started with one car throwing out beads and candy to kids in the neighborhood.  They had so much fun and every year since then more and more people have wanted to participate.

What started with one car has grown to more than twenty.  The Cablz Eyewear Retainer Crew has now participated in five parades.  It’s become one of our favorite events that we do together.  We have so much fun every year coming up with a new theme.

Willie, our labradoodle mascot, is usually our inspiration.  He is such a good sport and loves being the center of attention.  At almost 100 pounds, this gentle giant, always leads the way for us.  October 2021, he was dyed blue as our theme was the Blues Brothers.  Our float was decked out in Blues Brothers memorabilia, people with black hats, signature sunglasses all while dancing under the disco ball and playing the saxophone! We threw out blue themed candy and Blue Silicone Cablz. The crowd loved having our eyewear retainers given out over other lanyards or straps.

Over the years, Willie has been red as Clifford the Big Red dog, purple as a Prince tribute, tie-dyed for a 70’s theme, pink for the disco flamingos and blue for this year’s Blues Brothers. We didn’t wear other lanyards or straps on our glasses, while participating in the parade.  We wore the best eyewear retainer on the market… Our Cablz!!  We never use other lanyards or straps on our glasses.  We always use a variety of one of our eyewear retainers on our sunglasses.
